Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I would like to express my thanks and gratitude for the trust and preference you have shown us at the 19th Ordinary General Assembly of our association held on 28 March 2023. We will try to be worthy of this important task with great seriousness and responsibility.
The main business area of our electromechanical industry consist of three main sectors namely, Generation-Transmission-Distribution of electrical energy that complement each other for which we are providing the equipment manufacturing, construction-facility works and operation/maintenance services. If we briefly evaluate these three sectors in the context of laws and related sub-legislation made 20 years ago like a revolution;
Electric Power Generation: With the licenses granted under the said legislation and YEKDEM incentives, the installed power capacity has been increased from 30 GW to 105 GW during the last 20 yearsHere, the share of Renewable Energy Generation Plants constitutes 30% as 33 GW. YEKDEM incentives, which ended in 2021, played an important role in this increase. The new YEKDEM incentive of the years 2021-2025 failed completely and its revision is on the agenda. In addition, there are very serious problems in storage Wind and Solar Power Plant applications. It is reported that new applications reached twice the installed power capacity (220 GW). There are allegations about serious illegal/unfair practices in this process. We will have serious follow-up and studies on this issue.
Electrical Energy Transmission: Facility construction works, operation and maintenance services are carried out under the ownership of TEİAŞ, that remains in the public domain according to the legislation. Most of our members are engaged in construction works, material supply and providing services to TEİAŞ system. The specifications and other legislations prepared by this public company (TEİAŞ) who constitutes the main body of the sector, touch us all. In recent years, as in all public companies, there has been a loss of experienced personnel in TEİAŞ. It should be essential that this organization establishes the technical / administrative specifications to be created with experienced / expert staff and that we all comply with it. However; in my opinion, the most important issue is the creation of new specifications and other regulations to be created by taking into account the earthquake disaster on February 6 in our country by taking into account the opinions, evaluations and suggestions of our members according to their areas of expertise. In this regard, all necessary studies will be carried out with a great seriousness and high sense of responsibility in the new period.
Electric Power Distribution: The privatization process, which started in 2006, was largely completed in 2012 and today electricity distribution is carried out by the private sector in 22 distribution zones. I should also note the fact that during the process of electricity distribution privatization, “despite all the warnings made as an association”, none of our opinions/suggestions have been taken into consideration and that there are serious problems today where our sector undertakes the most important equipment production and construction work. Equipment procurement processes, construction and service procurement processes have put our sector/members in great difficulties and are continuing. In the new period, it will be our most important task to overcome these problems by following the continuous dialogue and negotiation process with the sector stakeholders (TEDAŞ/Distribution Companies/EMRA) with great dedication and persistence.
The success of these studies, which I have mentioned very briefly, is possible primarily with the participation and contributions you will give to our association. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to extend my sincere feelings to all our members; I would like to pay my respects with the wish that we will have a period of health, peace and harmony.
